SUMMARY:AFV Greenhouse Gas Emissions and AFLEET Tool Updates
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Andrew Burnham (Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) \nAndrew Burnham\, from Argonne National Laboratory\, will lead the webinar and will discuss issues related to the greenhouse gas emissions from alternative fuel and advanced vehicles. This webinar will discuss how various AFVs differ from conventional vehicles and how this has changed due to recent regulations. \nMany researchers have been working to incorporate new data into Argonne’s GREET lifecycle model regarding these issues. From that research\, Andrew has created the AFLEET Tool for Clean Cities stakeholders to estimate the environmental (and economic) impacts of AFVs. Andrew will present updates made to the AFLEET Tool. You can find both the AFLEET Tool spreadsheet and user manual here: http://greet.es.anl.gov/afleet_tool and on the Alternative Fuels Data Center website \nRegistration is required. SUMMARY:Using Energy Efficiency Finance Models to Electrify Fleets
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, April 21st at 1:00 PM EDT\, the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC) will host a webinar to explore how a total cost of ownership model can help fleets finance a transition to electric vehicles. \nVEIC is a mission driven non-profit dedicated to reducing the environmental and economic cost of energy use. To support our mission\, VEIC operates an energy services company (ESCO) to help encourage investment in efficient building technologies. We are also considering this model for the transportation sector: can a total cost of ownership model reduce energy costs through deployment of electric vehicles?\nThis webinar will present results of market research and fleet assessments\, focusing on the potential of a transportation ESCO (T-ESCO) to achieve financial savings and environmental benefits. \nWe will also facilitate a discussion on the following:\n– Applications for T-ESCO programs in the transportation sector\n– Improved fleet management and reduced transportation energy use\n– Using the T-ESCO to reach smaller\, underserved markets \nJoin project leaders Justine Sears and Bethany Whitaker for a lively discussion of the Transportation ESCO concept. \nRegistration: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2739785436858208268

SUMMARY:British Columbia Revenue Neutral Carbon Tax Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Exploring Climate Solutions Webinar Series brought to you by the Governor’s Council on Climate Change (GC3). \nJoin us to learn about the British Columbia Revenue Neutral Carbon Tax. Fossil fuel use imposes significant costs on society and the environment — costs that traditionally have not been factored into the price of coal\, oil\, and natural gas. Recognizing that this economic loophole has been one of the principal drivers of climate change\, the Canadian province of British Columbia instituted a broad-based carbon tax in 2008. The tax applies to fossil fuels purchased or used in British Columbia — including those for transportation\, home heating\, and electricity generation. Revenues generated by the tax are returned to taxpayers through corresponding reductions in other taxes\, including personal and corporate income taxes. \nRegister

DESCRIPTION:Presented by Caley Johnson (NREL)\, Kristi Moriarty (NREL)\, and Bob McCormick (NREL) \nHigh-octane fuels\, when paired with appropriate engines\, can enable greater engine efficiency than current gasoline. Mid-level ethanol blends are a good way to boost octane because they offer the additional benefit of petroleum displacement. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funded a two-year study of the fuel properties\, engine efficiency\, infrastructure requirements\, market effects\, and (GHG) greenhouse gas reduction associated with these fuel blends. \nIn the High Octane Fuels webinar\, three of the researchers will summarize the findings of this research project. \nThe webinar will include a discussion of the following: \n-An explanation of octane\n-How engines can be changed to use higher octane to achieve greater efficiency\n-Why mid-level ethanol blends can lead to reduced petroleum consumption and GHG emissions\n-The ability of our fuel infrastructure to transport\, store\, and deliver enough ethanol for these blends\n-The benefits that mid-level ethanol blends could bring to major stakeholders (fuel producers\, vehicle manufacturers\, fuel retailers\, and drivers) and the barriers that these stakeholders would need to overcome in order to profitably bring it to market. \nRegistration is required. To attend\, register for the webinar with GoToMeeting. \nFor more information\, contact Sandra Loi.

SUMMARY:Non-Residential EVSE Cost Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Linda Bluestein (U.S. Department of Energy)\, Margaret Smith (New West Technologies)\, Jim Francfort (Idaho National Laboratory)\, Charlie Botsford (AeroVironment)\, and Randy Schimka (San Diego Gas & Electric) \nAs more drivers purchase plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs)\, there is a growing need for a network of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) to provide power to those vehicles. PEV drivers will primarily charge their vehicles using residential EVSE\, but there is also a need for non-residential EVSE in workplace\, public\, and fleet settings. This webinar will provide information about the costs associated with purchasing\, installing\, and owning non-residential EVSE. New West Technologies’ Margaret Smith will provide an overview of EVSE cost information included in the Clean Cities report on Costs Associated with Non-Residential Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment. The report is available on the Alternative Fuels Data Center at http://www.afdc.energy.gov/uploads/publication/evse_cost_report_2015.pdf. A panel of EVSE experts will be available to answer questions from the audience about EVSE costs. The panel includes Jim Francfort (Idaho National Laboratory)\, Charlie Botsford (AeroVironment)\, and Randy Schimka (San Diego Gas & Electric). They bring diverse perspectives and experience with installing EVSE around the country. \nStakeholders and other interested parties are welcome to participate. \nRegistration is required. To attend\, register for the webinar with GoToMeeting. After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. \nFind out more information about the webinar.

SUMMARY:Making Cents of Electric Vehicles: Key Incentives for Fleet Deployment Webinar
DESCRIPTION:As the largest buyers of transportation technologies\, fleets are frequently confronted with a number of challenging issues that come with cutting-edge technologies such as battery electric vehicles. Two major issues often include\, 1) the upfront costs\, and 2) the uncertainty regarding the quality and readiness of the technology. Now that EV technology in motorcycles\, passenger vehicles\, and various medium and heavy duty vehicles have been tested and\, in many instances\, proven in the marketplace\, fleets are looking even more closely at this growing segment of the clean vehicle industry. While interest and demand of the product has grown significantly\, incremental vehicle costs often still remains a challenge\, especially in the public sector where “leadership directives from above” may not always come with the appropriate “funding from above.” Thankfully there are a number of innovative incentive programs being offered by both the private and public sectors to help facilitate procurement and deployment of EVs throughout North America. \nJoin us for a complimentary\, one-hour webinar\, which will highlight some of these key incentives that help to substantially buy down the cost of the vehicle\, charging\, and other costs of traditional vehicle ownership to maximize fleet deployment. \nPresenters include: \n\nNissan — Learn about significant fleet incentives available to purchase America’s best selling 100% electric vehicle\, the Nissan LEAF\, for a fraction of retail costs.\nGNA — GNA’s Funding 360° Program helps companies\, municipalities\, and organization track\, evaluate\, and apply for funding programs throughout North America.
