Attention Connecticut Clean Diesel Stakeholders!
The deadline for receiving proposals for this year’s Connecticut State DERA Program has been extended to September 20, 2016.
Proposals submitted by the September 7, 2016 original deadline will receive a bonus criteria point for ranking.
Requirements for this year’s State Clean Diesel Program are described in EPA’s FY 2014-2016 State Clean Diesel Grant Program Information Guide (PDF). Eligible projects are discussed in Section VIII C; restrictions are covered in Section IX.
While there are other clean diesel project options, if you are considering a replacement proposal, be aware of the following.
EPA’s Eligibility Restrictions on Diesel Replacement Projects:
- Replacing a diesel truck: Replacement must be at least three years ahead of the normal replacement schedule for that vehicle. The replacement schedule must be provided. Trucks must be in the Class 5 weight class (16,001 lbs. GVWR) or higher. (Also see Table 1 on page 18 of the Program Information Guide.)
- Replacing nonroad diesel equipment: A piece of equipment must have at least seven years of remaining useful life, based on the type and age of vehicle. EPA’s useful life tables can be found at http://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2015-10/documents/fy14-nonroad-remaining-useful-life.pdf
- Replacing or repowering marine engines: Upgrades must be to a higher Tier marine engine standard. Marine engines that are already Tier 3 or Tier 4 cannot be upgraded with these funds. (See Table 4 on page 19 of the Program Information Guide.)
