The Greater New Haven Clean Cities Coalition (GNHCCC) is a non-profit organization and was designated in 1995. The mission of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program is to advance the economic, environmental and energy security of the U.S. by supporting local decisions to adopt practices that contribute to reduced petroleum consumption in the transportation sector. The GNHCCC brings together stakeholders in the public and private sectors to deploy alternative and renewable fuels, idle-reduction measures, fuel economy improvements, and emerging transportation technologies.

The GNHCCC 2016 Summer Intern’s work plan will focus on learning, understanding, and applying alternative fuel and advanced technologies in Connecticut and the northeastern US. The following are examples of the activities they will complete over their summer internship:

  1. Update the electric charging stations on the DOE Alternative Fuel Station Locator website and assist with the fueling station assessment and verification task.
    • Compare Connecticut state EVSE listing with AFDC station locator
    • Take photos of station
    • Assist with gather and verify additional information needed by fuel type
  1. Utilize relationships and synergies to expand GNHCCC brand and coalition goals
  1. Participate and assist in a variety of the coalition’s outreach efforts including:
    • Social media and website improvements.
    • Monthly newsletter production.
    • Recruitment of new fleet stakeholders.
    • Assisting in fleet manager’s outreach.
    • Assist with planning Clean Cities’ outreach events.

A successful candidate will have an interest in petroleum consumption reduction and alternative fuels for transportation. Experience with WordPress, social media campaigns, MailChimp, public speaking, and working with a variety of stakeholders is preferred.
